We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated general adult psychiatrist to join the Putney and Roehampton IRH based at Queen Mary’s Hospital. The role is being offered as 10 PAs on a fixed term basis. The Putney and Roehampton IRH provides care for walking age adults who live in the Putney and Roehampton area and experience severe and enduring mental illness. The IRH is one of four within the borough of Wandsworth with care provided according to GP and PCN alignment. The post sits within a well-established multidisciplinary team including another substantive consultant. The role works closely with a separate consultant led assessment team and interfaces with consultant led home treatment team and inpatient wards. There are also specialist teams for early intervention in psychosis and personality disorder.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide medical leadership to Putney and Roehampton IRH and medical consultant psychiatric advice to patients referred to the Wandsworth Single Point of Access Team (WSPA). The Consultant will work closely with the Team Manager to ensure a safe, efficient and effective service that meets the Trust’s Key Performance Indicators. While individual clinicians within the team have responsibility for the clinical care they deliver, the consultant shares with the team manager and other team members responsibility for ensuring the care delivered by the team is safe and of a good standard. This includes participating in systems of audit and clinical governance, working to resolve problems on their own initiative, and where necessary drawing any concerns they have been unable to resolve themselves to the attention of the team manager and others.
