We are looking to recruit an experienced Service Manager for our Adolescent Outreach Team (AOT), established over twenty years ago. The team is composed of a multidisciplinary group with high staff retention and works to support young people, their families, and community services to keep young people at home and reduce hospital admissions.
Key Responsibilities
- The Service Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Adolescent Outreach Team and will focus on effective clinical leadership, promoting a culture of high performance and clinical excellence.
- Manage the provision and delivery of crisis interventions and intensive home support as an alternative to admission, including the management of the team rota.
- Assume responsibility for own workload of CYP at high risk of self-harm, suicidality and mental health crisis.
- Work independently, adhering to professional guidelines and Trust policies, taking full responsibility for own work.
- Formulate, review and implement mental healthcare, crisis management and safety plans specific to each CYP and family, based on complex factors and safeguarding issues.
- Consult with other professionals, refer safeguarding concerns and coordinate with safeguarding teams as required.
- Deliver support and equip team staff with evidence‑based psychological treatments, monitoring outcomes and adapting interventions.
- Assess and monitor risk, drawing up appropriate risk management and safety plans in partnership with team members and other services.
- Communicate complex, sensitive and potentially distressing information with CYP, parents, carers and colleagues in a skilful, tactful and culturally sensitive manner.
- Maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, including electronic data entry and recording.
- Ensure that services are acceptable, accessible and culturally responsive to the diverse communities in the catchment area.
- Act as clinical lead, providing clinical decision‑making for a range of high‑risk and complex cases and coordinating safe transitions to relevant services.
- In conjunction with the Head of Nursing & Quality for CAMHS and Specialist Services, develop and implement standards across the Trust, strengthening professional clinical leadership at team level.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a candidate who has a good understanding of the national perspective for Children and Young People and related areas of health, ensuring the team is aware of broader implications. The ideal candidate must be highly committed to teamwork, capable of building strong working relationships with local inpatient services, community CAMHS, and emergency care teams.
