The Trust is seeking a Specialty Doctor for the Adult In-patient Eating Disorders Ward, Avalon Ward, Springfield University Hospital. This is a new post.
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic psychiatrist to join this well-established in-patient eating disorders unit, with a well-functioning MDT and good national and international reputation. Avalon Ward is an 18-bed unit providing care for local and national patients, mostly from Surrey, Sussex, and Kent, with eating disorders requiring inpatient treatment.
Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will provide senior clinical care and support as well as psychiatric input to Avalon Ward (Adult Eating Disorders In-patients Unit). The post-holder will work closely with the Team consultants, Team Manager, and Clinical Leads to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective service that meets the Trust’s Key Performance Indicators.

Person Specification
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCPsych or equivalent
- Additional clinical qualifications
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
Eligibility
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
- Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
- Approved under S12
- Experience of working in Eating Disorders Service or In-patient Services
Clinical Knowledge
- Excellent clinical skills in the assessment and management of complex mental health conditions
- Training and experience in working with systems and agencies to support patients’ mental health
- Good understanding of MHA and MCA
- Excellent knowledge in specialty
- Knowledge and experience in psychopharmacology
- Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
- Experience in a variety of therapies
