The Society of St James (SSJ) has been working in Hampshire for over 50 years, delivering high impact, person-centred, accommodation services to adults and young people experiencing homelessness, problematic substance use and mental health problems. The Impact You'll Make
To work at a number of residential and commercial properties for the Society of St James (SSJ), in order to provide and maintain a quality housekeeping service. You will be responsible for upholding Health & Safety and COSHH standards for cleaning, ensuring communal areas, kitchens, bathrooms, commercial offices, and vacant residential rooms/flats are cleaned to a high standard, alongside driving between properties to distribute supplies.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a reliable, self-motivated, and organised individual with good time management skills. You should be able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team, with the physical capacity to carry out cleaning duties across multi-floor properties. An empathetic and non-judgmental approach towards individuals with histories of homelessness, mental health problems, and substance misuse is essential.
Essential Skills and Qualities
- Experience of cleaning to a high standard, including regular tasks and periodic deep cleans in residential and commercial settings
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and COSHH safety requirements (or willingness to complete training)
- Good time management skills and ability to organise and prioritise your workload effectively
- Physical capability to lift materials/equipment and climb stairs across multi-floor properties
- Good communication skills and basic computer literacy (Word, Email, Internet)
- Empathetic and respectful attitude towards individuals with complex needs
- Full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business travel between properties or alternative accessible arrangement
- Knowledge of lone working procedures, health & safety, and awareness of safeguarding protocols
