Use your business support management skills to make a real difference in how a vital national charity works. GamCare is one of the UK’s leading providers of information, advice and support for people affected by gambling harms. We’re looking for an experienced Business Support Manager to lead our Business Support Team and help ensure our Operations directorate runs effectively.
This is a broad and influential role, combining team leadership, operational improvement and trusted support to the Director of Operations. You’ll lead a team of six business support professionals, setting clear priorities, developing your team and ensuring a responsive, consistent and high-quality service across Operations.
Working closely with operational leaders, you’ll understand what different teams need, allocate resources effectively and identify opportunities to make processes simpler, stronger and more efficient. You’ll use service information and performance data to understand what is working, address pressures and continually improve the support your team provides.
Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you’ll become a trusted partner to the Director of Operations, providing confidential PA, business and project support that helps them make the best possible use of their time. From coordinating meetings, actions and communications to supporting projects, recruitment, onboarding and directorate governance, you’ll be close to the priorities that matter to GamCare.
About you
You’ll bring significant experience of managing a business support, PA, administrative or operations support team, alongside experience of supporting a senior leader or director. You’ll be highly organised, confident managing competing priorities and comfortable improving processes and service standards. You’ll also know how to use workload data or management information to monitor performance and improve delivery.
Just as importantly, you’ll be a confident people manager and relationship builder: someone who can bring structure, support others to perform at their best and handle sensitive information with sound judgement and discretion. If you’re a people-focused manager who enjoys bringing order to complexity, improving how things work and enabling others to succeed, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to an organisation with a national reach and an important mission.
Benefits You Can Enjoy
- 33 days basic annual leave entitlement per annum (pro-rated for part-time colleagues) including bank holidays which increases with service.
- A generous Pension Scheme - we contribute 6% and you contribute 2%.
- Discretionary company sick pay after 6 months’ service.
- Employee Assistance Programme – 24-hour support.
- Premium access to the CALM app for you and up to 5 dependents.
GamCare is committed to offering the best support to people affected by gambling harms, as such we welcome applications from candidates with lived experience. GamCare is an equal opportunities employer and doesn’t discriminate based on race, religion, gender, age, sexuality, gender identification, or physical ability. We are only able to facilitate visa sponsorship in very limited circumstances, so candidates outside of the UK or who don’t have the right to work in the UK need not apply.
