About the Role

South West Coaches is one of the South West's largest independent bus and coach operators. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced PCV Mechanic to join our workshop team at our Wincanton depot. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to become part of a friendly, supportive, and professional team, working on a modern and diverse fleet of buses and coaches within a well-established, family-run business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on PCVs (buses and coaches)
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and complete repairs to DVSA standards
  • Prepare vehicles for MOTs, carry out inspections, and rectify defects
  • Accurately complete maintenance records and parts documentation
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent (preferred)
  • Proven experience as a PCV or HGV mechanic
  • Category D driving licence advantageous (or willingness to train)
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
