About the role:

We are inviting experienced Police Constables and Sergeants with a passion for community engagement to transfer into our Neighbourhood Policing teams in the Cardiff and Vale area. If you have a strong desire to make a real difference within local communities, we would like to hear from you.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify threat, harm, and risk by developing an understanding of local issues to best protect the community.
  • Engage with partners to support and safeguard vulnerable individuals and groups, helping prevent victimisation or repeat victimisation.
  • Identify and apply various approaches, including partnership working, to manage and divert individuals at risk of reoffending.
  • Support and encourage community engagement and participation in policing.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques to create targeted interventions to reduce crime and disorder.
  • Use policing powers fairly and transparently to address community issues, reinforcing procedural justice and public trust.

Applicants should also include any Neighbourhood Policing training or crime prevention qualifications they hold.

About you:

  • Currently serving as a Police Constable or Sergeant
  • Have successfully completed your probationary period at the appropriate rank
  • Demonstrate a commitment to high levels of performance and attendance
  • Previous experience in Neighbourhood Policing and community problem-solving is desirable

  • Fitness test
  • Biometric vetting (DNA, fingerprints, and drug screening)
