South Wales Police Special Constable (Volunteer Police Officer) Campaign October 2025

Special Constables are volunteers who have the same powers, equipment, uniform and attend the same calls as regular Police Constables. As a Special Constable you will provide a vital link between the regular force and your local communities and play a crucial role in delivering policing priorities for South Wales.

Expectations

  • Commit to a minimum of 16 hours of service per month.
  • Subject to a two‑year probationary period during which you must complete all elements of training and be certified as independent patrol.

Information Session

Special Constable Information Session on Monday 27th October 2025, 18:00 online via Microsoft Teams. Register by 12 noon 24 October 2025.

Application Process

  • Applications open 9 am 13th October 2025; close 12 noon 3rd November 2025.
  • Complete the National Sift online test within 7 days of invitation or by closing time.
  • Tests must be completed on a desktop/laptop computer.
  • Only one reset of the test is permitted.
  • Submit all required certificates before the deadline.
  • For reasonable adjustments, email HR-Recruitment@south-wales.police.uk.

Applicants who fail the National Sift are ineligible to resit within 3 months for any other uniformed recruitment.
