We are seeking an individual highly literate in computer and network systems with either a relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent industry experience in digital forensics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting forensic examinations of digital devices to support the safeguarding of vulnerable individuals and the identification, prevention, and detection of criminal activity. You will be expected to understand the wide range of digital systems and files encountered during examinations and to present evidential findings clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.

The role also includes supporting live cyber incidents and investigations, providing technical assistance to investigators and victims. Previous experience in this area of work would be advantageous. This position offers valuable experience in networking and computer forensics within a regional law enforcement environment, with access to industry-leading hardware and software. Ongoing training and CPD will be provided to support personal development and enhance team capability.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to undertake a practical test to assess knowledge and proficiency. The Regional Cyber Crime Unit is an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory, and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the ongoing maintenance and development of this accreditation. The successful candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.

Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are currently underrepresented within the Force, we would particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates.

To support the ambition of a diverse workforce, South Wales Police is able to offer a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS). The GIS is available for people living with a disability or who identify as ethnically diverse. If you are an applicant who is living with a disability or from an ethnically diverse background (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) and would like to be considered under the GIS, you must meet the essential minimum criteria for the role as outlined in the advert and role profile.
