Are you interested in applying to become a Special Constable (Volunteer Police Officer)? Special Constables are volunteers who have the same powers, equipment, uniform, and attend the same calls as regular Police Constables. As a Special Constable you will provide a vital link between the regular force and your local communities, helping to deliver the policing priorities for South Wales. You will be valued, and it will be a rewarding, challenging and enjoyable experience.

Expectations

  • You will be expected to commit to a minimum of 16 hours of service per month.
  • Your appointment will be subject to a 2‑year probationary period during which you must complete all elements of your training and be certified as an independent patrol officer.
