We are looking for individuals to play a key role in training, testing and exercise to support Police Officers and staff in preparing for major incidents within South Wales Police and neighbouring Police Forces. Would you like to support South Wales Police and the local community by making sure our emergency plans are in place and thoroughly tested? We are looking for someone to as a Capability Assurance Team Assistant in our Force Planning Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support training, testing and exercise for South Wales Police Commanders and operational staff.
  • To support preparation and delivery of presentations to key stakeholders.
  • To support knowledge and understanding of Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Programme (JESIP) and ensure South Wales Police major incident plans are fully tested and exercised.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Must have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C Level, including Maths and English, or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
  • Must have or to complete within 3 months COP Training Essentials Programme (TEP) or equivalent.
  • Must have or be willing to undertake Multi Agency Resilience and Training & Exercise Training.
  • Must have or be willing to undertake training at the Emergency Planning College - starting out in Civil Contingencies.
  • Must have or willing to undertake 4x4 offroad training, trailer training and basic police driving standards.
  • Desirable: College of Policing Structured Debrief Trained.

Skills:

  • Essential: Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications and Niche.
  • Must be competent at working with and delivering presentations to key stakeholders.
  • Desirable: Welsh Language Level 2 - Can understand the essence of a conversation in Welsh and can convey basic information and respond to simple requests in Welsh. Can use Welsh to transfer telephone calls. Can introduce oneself and others by name, role, and location/organisation. Can contribute in a meeting partly in Welsh. Experience of working events. Experience of JESIP/Major Incidents.

Knowledge:

  • Essential: Must have experience as an emergency responder and or have experience as part of a multi-agency response to an emergency.
  • Must have an up-to-date knowledge of legislation impacting on policing.
  • Must have an up-to-date knowledge of plans, policies and procedure impacting on policing.
  • Understanding of Civil Contingencies and emergency preparedness.
  • Good understanding of planning events, resource management and staffing levels.
  • Must have a basic awareness of the Strategic Policing Requirement.
  • Must have understanding of JESIP principles.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of Authorised Professional Practice including, Public Order, Civil Contingencies, Operational Planning and Critical Incident Management. Must have experience of understanding reports and identifying key points associated with Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
