South Wales Police brings together thousands of people with the same aim - to keep South Wales safe.

We want to be the best at understanding and responding to our community's needs. To do this we need the very best candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to apply to become part of our policing family.

We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as an Organisational Development Advisor in our People & Leadership Development Team within the wider Learning & Development Department. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

  • The Learning & Development department supports the development of police staff and officers in line with the Force's vision and values.
  • The People & Leadership Development Team is based within this department and specifically focuses on the delivery of Organisational Development initiatives to support the continuous professional development of police staff and officers, including talent development and behavioural and cultural change programmes.
  • Whilst the role is based in HQ, we support staff and officers across the force and you will sometimes be required to travel to locations within the SWP area.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

The role of Organisational Development Advisor is varied and wide-ranging, and the successful candidate will:

  • Work alongside their L&D colleagues and people from all areas of the Force to understand the learning and development needs of the organisation and deliver a range of development opportunities for police staff and officers in response to that defined need.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge, skills and professional practices to design and implement development opportunities that meet both organisational priorities and the diverse needs of staff and officers across the force.
  • These may include areas of work such as the development of needs analysis tools including the Force's annual review system and skills profiler tool, the coordination of Continuous Professional Development programmes, and the sourcing and delivery of qualifications and training courses by external providers.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

We are looking for a self-motivated individual, with strong communication skills and the ability to organise your work to support the evolving needs of the organisation. You will also be educated to degree level in a relevant subject, have an appropriate professional qualification, or have relevant and current experience in one of more of the following areas:

  • Coaching
  • Mentoring
  • Learning and Development
  • Managing Change
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Talent Management

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.

Please note, if you are subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, you appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis

There are numerous benefits to working for South Wales Police, from learning and development opportunities to schemes which aim to improve your lifestyle and wellbeing, as well as generous Local Government Pension Scheme / Police Pension Schemes, paid annual leave, flexible working and family friendly policies and many more.

We embrace diversity and welcome applications from everyone.
