South Wales Police brings together thousands of people with the same aim – to keep South Wales safe.
We want to be the best at understanding and responding to our community’s needs. To do this we need the very best candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to apply to become part of our policing family.
We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as Digital Storefront and Logistics Officer within our Printing Department. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
The Print Department is a long-established in-house print facility within South Wales Police and is located within Police Headquarters, Bridgend. This position will provide an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our friendly and dynamic team.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Digital Storefront and Logistics Officer with proven expertise within the digital print and large-format print sector.
You will be leading the day-to-day coordination of production activities, supervising Digital Print Operators to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
You will also help set up, manage and continue to develop our XMPIE Digital Storefront (Web2Print) platform and Print Management Information System (MIS), supporting digital ordering, estimating, workflow management and continuous improvement.
You will act as the key link between customers and production, providing quotations, monitoring performance and helping to identify new opportunities to improve services and generate income.
Key skills and experience:
- Educated to A-Level or equivalent, or able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities, together with a recognised Print Production qualification or sufficient relevant industry experience.
- Ability to supervise and coordinate Digital Print Operators, plan production schedules, allocate resources and prioritise workloads to meet customer deadlines.
- Excellent planning, organisational, communication and customer-service skills, coordinating the end-to-end flow of work from customer order through production to final delivery.
- Ability to administer and maintain a Digital Storefront (XMPIE or equivalent) and to accurately estimate, schedule and process work using a Print Management Information System (MIS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and a sound understanding of colour management, print quality assurance and production standards.
- Ability to coordinate stock, consumables, finished products, collections, dispatch and delivery to support uninterrupted production.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to continuous improvement, value for money and identifying opportunities to improve services and maximise income.
- A current valid driving licence is essential, as the role requires regular travel between South Wales Police sites for deliveries, collections and operational print requirements.
Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis
There are numerous benefits to working for South Wales Police, from learning and development opportunities to schemes which aim to improve your lifestyle and wellbeing, as well as generous Local Government Pension Scheme / Police Pension Schemes, paid annual leave, flexible working and family friendly policies and many more.
If you would like any more information about the role, please contact Stuart Evans, Print Manager via email stuart.evans4@south-wales.police.uk
Please note the successful candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to the required level of RV.
As an equal opportunities’ employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are currently underrepresented within the Force, we would particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates.
