A vacancy has arisen within the Service Performance and Communications Department of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, which is based at our Headquarters, Forest View Business Park, Llantrisant, CF72 8LX. Our mission is to serve our communities by reducing risk and responding to emergencies.

As a Statistical and Risk Analyst Officer, you will be joining a team focused on providing analysis to support evidence-based decisions. The team is responsible for analysing and interpreting data and information from across the Service including numerical, written, graphical and geospatial.

You will have experience of evaluating and managing complex datasets, recognising the importance of data insights to deliver measurable improvement. Your skill will make data accessible to users at all levels, including our partners and the public. This will ensure we are effectively managing and reporting on our performance in line with all relevant legislative requirements and providing timely, quality information to our stakeholders.

Experience of MS Office suite particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook are essential. We use SQL and QGIS regularly to interrogate and visualise data; experience of these or similar systems would be beneficial, but training will be provided. Excellent organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail are also essential for this role.

This demanding post will require the successful candidate to work collaboratively with other Fire and Rescue Service personnel and the ability to travel is required. Welsh language skills are desirable, but not essential for this post. You will be based at our Headquarters in Llantrisant.
