Required for September. Salary: £28,598 per annum pro rata. Positions: 2 Permanent, 2 Fixed Term for 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Work with children and young people with Autism or Severe Learning Difficulties.
  • Prepare to work at both sites and across any key stage, as and when required.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification required.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with Autism or Severe Learning Difficulties is essential.

About the School

Keelman’s Way School is South Tyneside’s provision for pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties. We provide an appropriate curriculum for pupils aged between two and nineteen. The school opened in September 2012. The curriculum is tailored to pupils’ educational needs and provides enhanced services for children, families and other professionals. Pupils’ sensory and physical needs are met through specialised input. The school has up-to-date facilities to provide physiotherapy, rebound therapy and hydrotherapy. Therapists and Health Professionals work with school staff to integrate programmes in the work of the school.

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment, and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre-employment checks. In line with guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education, schools may carry out an online search as part of their due diligence on shortlisted candidates.
