Within Community Operations at South Tyneside Council, we manage, maintain and improve 16,000 Council homes and estates. Our apprentices and staff are at the heart of everything we do.   • An Apprentice Electrician (Level 3 – duration 4 – 4½ years)
  • An Apprentice Ground Worker (Level 2 – duration up to 2½‑3 years)
  • An Apprentice Joiner (Level 2/Level 3 – duration up to 4 years)
  • An Apprentice Roofer (Level 2 – duration up to 2 to 2½ years)
  • Apprentice Plumbers (Level 3 – duration 4 – 4½ years)

Career Progression

As you gain experience and complete your apprenticeship, you will have opportunities to take on more responsibilities and advance within the organisation. Many of our apprentices have moved into full‑time roles and have continued to grow, taking on leadership positions and contributing to larger projects.

Minimum requirements

GCSE’s or predicted grades at Grade C/4 or above in Maths and English, or Functional Skills Level 2 in both. Or an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan, a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or a Learning Difficulty Assessment (LDA). School leavers must indicate predicted grades. Applications without grades or predicted grades will not be considered.
