Service Manager – Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Preparing for Adulthood (Adult Social Care and Commissioning, South Tyneside Council)

Do you want to lead services that make a real difference to people\’s lives and strengthen partnerships across health, education and social care?

We\’re looking for an inspiring and values‑led Service Manager to join our senior leadership team, leading Mental Health, Learning Disability and Preparing for Adulthood services in South Tyneside. You’ll shape person‑centred, rights‑based support that helps people to live independently, connect with their communities, and have greater choice and control in how they live their lives.

You will provide senior leadership across our social care teams and alliances, supporting innovation and improvement across all three areas. The role includes strategic oversight of the AMHP function, the delivery of community mental health and learning disability transformation, and the development of strong transition pathways for young people moving into adulthood.

Working closely with partners across the NHS, education, housing and the voluntary sector, you’ll build on our strong local foundations to co‑design services with people and carers. You’ll lead a motivated, skilled workforce that delivers Practice to be Proud of and lives our PROUD values and CARE behaviours every day.

Qualifications

We’re seeking a registered health or social care professional with significant leadership experience in adult social care, mental health, learning disability or transition services. You’ll have a collaborative leadership style, confidence in managing complex systems, and a commitment to co‑production and inclusion. Most importantly, you’ll share our belief that people are at their healthiest and happiest when they are supported to live independently in the place they call home.
