As part of our strive to ensure children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in South Tyneside have the best start in life, we are looking to recruit a number of new posts to work across our Children’s, Adult’s and Families Group.
As a Participation and Engagement Officer (SEND), you will lead on work with parents and carers across the local area to ensure they are at the heart of any SEND co-production activities. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council to embed participation and engagement principles, raise the profile of SEND and extend opportunities for colleagues to support participation and engagement.
You will also lead and maintain the SEND Local Offer to ensure it meets the needs of parents/carers and children/young people within the local area and the requirements set out in the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
The successful applicant will need to evidence they have appropriate qualifications and experience of working with children and young people with special educational needs & disabilities and excellent working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
