Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Academy’s pastoral provision with clarity and purpose, setting high expectations for attendance, behaviour, rewards and well‑being.
  • Develop and strengthen an effective pastoral care system that supports students across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
  • Ensure the Academy remains fully compliant with pastoral and organisational requirements, maintaining robust systems and procedures.
  • Drive improvement initiatives that raise attendance, punctuality, well‑being, rewards, behaviour and engagement.
  • Oversee school‑based sanctions and staff duties, ensuring consistency, fairness and effective implementation.
  • Work strategically to support the most vulnerable students, including those who present with challenging behaviour, so that they receive personalised support and can succeed academically and personally.

We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience of leading or significantly contributing to pastoral care, behaviour, attendance or student support in a secondary school setting.
  • The confidence to work with students who display challenging behaviour, using a calm, consistent and relational approach.
  • A strong understanding of how effective pastoral systems contribute to academic progress, personal development and whole‑school improvement.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families and external partners.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the capacity to manage a broad range of responsibilities with professionalism and integrity.
  • A commitment to inclusive practice, high standards and the success of every young person.
