We are seeking a committed and compassionate Youth College Teacher (Maths) to join our specialist team. This role is suited to an education professional who is passionate about working with vulnerable young people and who believes in the power of education to transform lives. You will deliver high-quality teaching alongside strong pastoral support, working closely with colleagues, home schools and external agencies to ensure learners can succeed both academically and personally. You will deliver 15 lessons (total) per week of GCSE Maths to 5 groups of 13 learners. Our small group sizes, combined with the effective pastoral support allow the staff/students to really get to know each other; thus enabling an effective, fun and meaningful learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching as part of the Youth College curriculum (GCSE Maths)
  • Re-engage learners who have experienced barriers to mainstream education
  • Support learners' attendance, behaviour, wellbeing and safeguarding needs
  • Contribute to a strong pastoral and enrichment offer that prepares learners for post-16 destinations
  • Work collaboratively with the Youth College team, Attendance Welfare Officer, home schools and external services
  • Support learners to develop essential life skills, employability skills and confidence
  • Maintain high expectations while demonstrating empathy, consistency and professionalism
  • When not teaching in the classroom directly, be on hand in the learner base or other Youth College classrooms to support when required by the Youth College Manager.
