Sessional Lecturer – Accounting (AAT Level 4 Diploma)

The School of Employability at South Thames College is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Accounting lecturer to teach the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality student learning and assessment for adult students on professional programmes, maintaining standards that meet College, student cohort, and awarding body expectations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, student‑centred teaching for the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting.
- Assess student progress and ensure clear, constructive feedback.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting practice and industry developments.
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, assessment materials, and exam preparation workshops.
- Use technology to support learning, including accounting software such as Sage and Excel spreadsheets.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Degree or post‑graduate degree in Accounting and Finance.
- Professional level qualifications in AAT or ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) and a background in accounting.
- Teaching qualification or willingness to pursue one.
- Successful teaching record in AAT accounting and approval from AAT to teach on AAT qualifications.
- Excellent IT skills, especially with Sage, Excel spreadsheets, and other accounting software.
- Strong communication skills, organisational ability, and initiative.
- Capacity to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
Salary: £41.32 – £49.71 per hour (pro‑rated for part‑time staff)
