Merton College is looking to appoint a Curriculum Lead to take responsibility for the teaching, learning and development of programmes designed to meet the individual needs of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Providing coordination and leadership of the delivery team, you will teach on, coordinate and develop curriculum on a range of Entry 1-3 level programmes, with a specific focus on the promotion of independence and the enhancement of employability skills for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the staff who form part of the delivery teams and ensure a high quality student support and learning is delivered.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources allocated to the programmes and contribute to the future direction and planning of programmes.
  • Embed Maths, English, employability and life skills within teaching across a range of academic/vocational levels.
  • Teach within the Foundation Learning and Pathways course for up to 18 hours per week.
  • Develop curriculum on a range of Entry 1-3 level programmes with a focus on independence and employability for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current teaching experience on a range of academic/vocational levels, with experience in motivating and guiding individuals and/or teams towards agreed objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver a variety of vocational programmes.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development within Foundation Learning and understanding of inclusive learning strategies and progression pathways in the Further Education sector for learners with SEND.
  • Thorough understanding of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies within the Preparing for Adulthood agenda and experience of vocational curriculum development within Further Education including RARPA.

Fees, Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. Benefits include 40 days annual leave plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year, 5 days Wellbeing leave, an excellent pension scheme (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities, professional development and training, and a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme.
