Permanent, Part Time (0.7). Please note that this post is funded for the 2026/27 academic year onwards so the successful candidate would not be expected to commence in post prior to August 2026.

South Thames College is seeking an experienced Electrical Installation lecturer to deliver outstanding quality in teaching, learning, assessment, and tutorial support to students, to maximise achievement and continuous improvement. You will play a key role in supporting the development of the curriculum, with employer engagement, and learner skills development.

You’ll create and implement innovative teaching, learning and assessment and deliver teaching and assessment activities within your area of specialism including lectures, setting/marking coursework, practicals and field work. We’d like you to hold a teaching qualification (or be working towards one), hold an Electrical Installation qualification and have recent UK teaching experience in Electrical Installation in an FE College.

With proven ability to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons, you’ll have experience of assessing, tracking and supporting student progress effectively with strong classroom management skills, able to motivate diverse learners. You’ll have a good understanding of current FE curriculum frameworks and quality standards, able to differentiate teaching to meet a wide range of learner needs.

A strong communicator with excellent organisational skills, you’ll be able to manage workload and meet deadlines.

There will be up to £5K uplift (pro rata) if the candidate has the following:

  • Relevant Vocational Qualification (Level 3)
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to complete
  • Relevant industry experience

There will be a further uplift up to £5K (pro rata) if the candidate has the following:

  • Hold a JIB ECS Card with a grade at approved Site Technician status
  • Additional Qualifications in Electrical Installation i.e. 2382 (18th Edition)
  • Assessors Award D32/33 or TAQA equivalent

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year. Closing date for the return of completed applications is 10th June 2026.

The benefits package includes generous annual leave of 40 days plus up to 8 additional days over Christmas/New Year as well as an additional 5 days Wellbeing leave to enhance employees’ physical and mental health. There is an excellent pension scheme that receives a significant financial contribution from the employer (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidised sports facilities and professional development and training plus a salary sacrifice cycle to work scheme. The benefits package is pro-rated for part time staff.
