Cardiothoracic Theatres are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Band 5 practitioner. We welcome applications from experienced practitioners seeking a new challenge or Newly Qualified Nurses / Operating Department Practitioners looking to become part of a dedicated and professional team. Previous experience is not necessary, as we offer a comprehensive training package with tailored mentorship. The Cardiothoracic Theatre Suite includes three operating theatres specializing in Cardiac and Thoracic surgery. We perform advanced procedures such as Minimally Invasive Heart Valve Surgery, Video-Assisted, and Robotic Lobectomies.
The Cardiothoracic unit at The James Cook University Hospital serves as a regional centre for lung cancer and is part of the Cancer Care Alliance of Teesside, South Durham, and Yorkshire, covering a population of 1.5 million from Whitehaven in Cumbria to North Yorkshire, Teesside, and Durham.

The role involves working as a scrub practitioner, caring for patients undergoing planned Cardiothoracic surgery, with an emergency service for life-saving interventions. The theatres operate Monday to Friday, with a 24-hour on-call service that attracts additional pay.

Leadership and Improvement Training
