South Staffs Water is seeking a dedicated Water Catchment Advisor to join our Catchment team, supporting the delivery of our catchment management programme across the Cambridge Water area, with occasional travel to the South Staffs Water region. This full-time role blends fieldwork and desk-based activities, focusing on water quality risk mitigation and environmental improvements. You’ll work closely with internal teams, regulators, landowners, and partner organisations to implement effective catchment measures and meet statutory obligations.

The Role

As a Water Catchment Advisor, you will:

  • Support the delivery of our catchment strategy and programme of measures.
  • Provide advice to land managers on water quality protection.
  • Analyse monitoring data to identify pollution sources.
  • Track and report on catchment activities, including financial progress.
  • Liaise with regulators, landowners, and stakeholders to ensure collaborative delivery.
  • Represent South Staffs Water at external events and meetings.
  • Work with catchment groups and partners to define plans that benefit water quality and the environment.
  • Occasionally attend stakeholder meetings outside of normal working hours.

What You’ll Need

  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience or knowledge in catchment management, agronomy, and land management practices.
  • Understanding of water industry operations and water quality issues.
  • Competence in data analysis and report writing.
  • BASIS/PAS experience (advantageous but not essential).

Qualifications

  • Degree-level qualification in environmental or scientific discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Valid UK driving licence (essential for fieldwork).
