South Staffs Water are looking for a Project Manager on a fixed term basis to join our team to work with Operations, helping to deliver and pilot some exciting field-based changes. This role is ideal for someone with utilities experience who can navigate complex environments, build strong relationships, and drive improvements that support our long-term strategic goals.

At South Staffs Water, we deliver clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.7 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. As a water only Company, providing clean, healthy water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year is at the very heart of what we do.

As a Project Manager, you will lead and coordinate a range of business critical projects from initiation through to completion. You’ll work closely with operational field teams, subject matter experts, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Your utilities background will help you understand regulatory expectations, operational challenges, and the importance of delivering change safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver field based projects to agreed time, cost, and quality requirements
  • Work with stakeholders to define clear project scopes, objectives, and success measures
  • Manage project documentation including plans, risks, issues, and progress reports
  • Review and assess method statements and risk assessments to ensure safe project delivery
  • Prepare project estimates, forecasts, and financial updates in line with governance requirements
  • Support procurement processes, including reviewing tender responses where required
  • Monitor project KPIs and performance metrics, identifying and driving corrective actions
  • Manage project changes and ensure robust governance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide project management expertise to support wider transformation initiatives across the business
What You’ll Need:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Degree-level education or at least 5 years’ experience in project management
  • Strong technical or operational background with experience in the water or wider utilities sector
  • Experience delivering projects in regulated environments
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and safe systems of work
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and confidently
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
