Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire | Field-Based Contract Full Time | Permanent | 37 hours per week

The Role: Our Leakage Department plays a vital role in helping reduce water leakage across the network, supporting operational performance and customer service delivery. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Leakage Technician to join our experienced team and contribute towards achieving leakage detection targets. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of water distribution networks and a proactive, field‑based approach to problem‑solving. This is a permanent night shift role, working 4 × 10‑hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out field‑based leakage detection activities across allocated District Metered Areas (DMAs) using specific leakage detection equipment.
  • Undertake valve operations, step testing, DMA integrity testing, and pressure, flow, or noise logging to support network optimisation.
  • Accurately complete paperwork, capture operational data, and provide information to support planning and decision making.
  • Manage customer interactions professionally, addressing concerns calmly and proactively managing expectations.
  • Adapt to new technologies and contribute ideas to improve team performance and operational effectiveness.

What You’ll Need:

  • Good understanding of water distribution networks and leakage detection processes.
  • Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Good PC literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within a field‑based team environment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
