Job Title: Environment Manager. Location: Cambridge/Walsall. Salary: To £45,000 depending on experience. Travel: Required across both regions.
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and driving sustainable change? South Staffs Water is seeking an experienced Environment Manager to lead our environmental strategy and ensure regulatory compliance across our operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of the Water Industry Environment Programme (WINEP), working closely with regulators, stakeholders, and third parties.
- Drive projects focused on biodiversity net gain, invasive species management, and environmental destination outcomes.
- Oversee environmental compliance, including monitoring, reporting, investigations, and pollution event response.
- Maintain and enhance our Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
- Chair the internal Environmental Working Group, championing sustainability and facilitating cross-departmental dialogue.
- Lead climate change risk assessments and adaptation reporting.
- Represent South Staffs Water at industry forums, workshops, and stakeholder events.
- Promote a strong Health and Safety culture, ensuring all training is current.

What You’ll Need (Skills & Experience)
- Proven expertise in environmental management or sustainability.
- Strong background in project management and stakeholder engagement.
- In-depth knowledge of UK environmental legislation and ecological principles.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage a varied workload across multiple sites.
- Full UK driving license required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an environmental role.
- Professional registration (e.g. EnvTech, CEnv, REnv) is desirable.
