As part of the Renewable Energy Solutions team within Advisory, you will lead the development and upgrade of our global quantitative models on power & renewables. The Managing Consultant will work alongside a broad range of energy industry experts analyzing the evolving PPA policy, technology and competitive landscape, through rigorous research and data analysis, and perform quantitative PPA analysis and business case modelling. The position provides an opportunity for a successful candidate to apply their knowledge of quantitative PPA modelling, and global power markets to provide our clients with outstanding technical expertise.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise medium-to-large-size sustainability consulting mandates throughout their entire project cycle: initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure.
- Collecting market insights/data and ensuring data integrity to maintain and enhance in-house energy modeling capabilities.
- Responsibility for performing analyses related to global power and renewable wholesale power markets including assessing the performance of various PPA projects.
- Tracking PPA market evolution and a strong understanding of current and expected supply and demand fundamentals.
- Lead or contribute to regular reports including PPA business case modeling, power and renewable forecasts, market updates, and policy developments, trends and competitor analysis.
- Carry out topical research to help clients understand PPA drivers, trends, competitive landscape, and opportunities.
- Deliver insights through written reports, presentations, and client interactions.
- Participate in consulting project development and delivery.
Profile Requirements:
- A university degree in topics such as engineering, economics, statistics or industry-related fields is required. Graduate degree with quantitative experience preferred.
- Relevant work experience (the expectation is between 3 and 6 years) in power markets, renewable energy or working in industry (e.g. utility, corporate, project developer), government, research or consulting.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated experience in savings and financial cash flows modelling, preferably with an experience in PPA/power market appraisal.
- Sound understanding of power markets.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by multinational companies undertaking the transition to Renewable Energy.
- Strong commercial skills and good business sense, the ability to identify and seize opportunities in a challenging and competitive market environment.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft and Google Suite applications. Knowledge of Python will be an advantage.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English (mother tongue or equivalent), other languages (German, French, Spanish) will be an advantage.
