Shape the future of our communities, economy and environment through land-use planning

Join our Place Shaping Team and help shape the future of South Norfolk and Broadland Councils, as we monitor how development is delivered through projects such as the Annual Monitoring Report, five-year housing land supply, employment land delivery and self-build registers, embark on a new sub-regional plan for Greater Norwich, support neighbourhood plans and help plan the infrastructure needed for growing communities. This is an exciting time as we respond to the Government’s new plan-making system and embrace the use of new digital planning tools.

What you could be part of:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Planning Policy Assistant to join our Place Shaping Team, who will help to shape the future of Greater Norwich and support the delivery of sustainable development across Broadland and South Norfolk. As part of a friendly and experienced team, you will contribute to the monitoring and review of planning policy, including the Greater Norwich Local Plan 2045, neighbourhood plans and infrastructure planning.

You will provide technical and administrative support to the Place Shaping Team by helping to gather and assess evidence, supporting consultation and engagement activities, preparing reports and guidance, and contributing to projects that shape how land is used and developed. You will work closely with wider team members, internal Council departments and partnership organisations as well as with developers, elected members and residents to ensure that the planning policy monitoring information is accurate and clearly presented to help influence future policies.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, from neighbourhood planning and community-led initiatives to strategic planning, environmental improvements and innovative approaches to planning data using GIS, Power BI and digital mapping tools. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in projects that will influence how the local area grows and develops over the coming decades, whilst building your professional planning skills within a supportive and collaborative team.
