Our dedicated Housing Team have a strong track record of helping customers and partners prevent homelessness across our districts, and we are now looking for a proactive Housing Administration Assistant to make a real difference.
In this role you will provide administrative support to the Housing and Temporary Accommodation (TA) teams. The role supports a multi-agency approach to delivering early help, including sustainable housing, housing benefit, tenancy support, debt prevention and financial independence.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide a comprehensive administrative service to the Housing and Temporary Accommodation teams, acting as a first point of contact for customers, colleagues and partner organisations. You will manage correspondence, records, data and reports, organise meetings and take minutes, maintain accurate electronic systems, and ensure information is handled securely and in line with GDPR and Council policies. You will work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to support the Council’s Early Help approach and ensure customers receive a timely and effective service.
You will also provide administrative support for the management of temporary and supported accommodation, assisting with customer enquiries, placements and planned move-on. This will include maintaining performance information and statutory compliance records, supporting health and safety requirements, raising purchase orders and invoices, and undertaking related financial administration. You will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload, maintain high standards of accuracy and confidentiality, and communicate confidently with external organisations
What We're Looking For
We’re looking for an organised, reliable and customer-focused administrator with excellent communication and attention to detail. You will be confident using Microsoft Office and electronic record systems, able to manage competing priorities and work accurately with sensitive information. Experience of working in a housing, local authority or customer-focused environment would be beneficial, but we are equally interested in your ability to work collaboratively, provide a professional service to customers and partners, and take ownership of your workload. You’ll need to be comfortable communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, and have a positive, flexible approach to supporting a busy team.
