We are looking for a friendly, professional and customer-focused individual to join our busy Council Tax team in a role where you will act as a first point of contact for residents, providing advice and support across a range of Council Tax enquiries. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same, so you’ll need a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a varied workload whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy and customer service.
You will be part of a fast-paced team, acting as a first point of contact for residents and providing advice and support across a wide range of Council Tax enquiries.
Working with customers by telephone, email, correspondence and face-to-face, you will deal with billing and collection of Council Tax, processing changes on accounts in line with relevant legislation and ensuring these are processed to the highest standard.
You will need to be able to negotiate with residents who are behind with payments, helping them to understand their bills as well as explaining Council Tax rules and regulations.
About You
You will have strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills, and will be passionate about delivering excellent customer service. You will ideally bring previous experience in Council Tax, Business Rates, administration or a customer service environment.
You will be confident handling a high volume of customer enquiries, particularly over the telephone, and have the ability to understand issues quickly, resolve queries at the first point of contact wherever possible, and identify when further action is required.
Excellent communication, teamwork and organisational skills are essential, along with a professional and customer-focused approach that ensures enquiries are handled accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.
