South Norfolk Council has an opportunity for a competent and experienced Pest Control Officer to join our team. The role involves promoting pest control services and providing a cost effective, high quality service across the district. You will be responsible for the eradication of insects, rodents, and mammals, ensuring the Council generates income, develops opportunities for business growth, and maintains high service standards. You will also be expected to keep up to date with all relevant legislation.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to drive, work independently, and communicate effectively with both customers and businesses to deliver excellent customer service. You will need sound knowledge of pest control methods and have the ability to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation. The role also requires the ability to work at height and to access confined spaces such as lofts.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Promote the pest control service to support revenue generation while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
- Carry out surveys at domestic and commercial properties, ensuring the service meets customer needs.
- Select and apply appropriate eradication techniques safely, in line with COSHH regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
- Complete detailed records, documentation, and service information when requested by customers.
- Ensure all vehicles, equipment, and stores are cleaned, maintained, and kept in good working order.
- Work at height or in potentially confined spaces to deliver services as required.
- Liaise with the public, businesses, and other Council departments to provide guidance, identify insects, and recommend appropriate treatments.
- Assist with enforcement action as required by the line manager.
- Work independently as a lone worker or as part of a team to ensure service standards, targets, and performance indicators are met, with a strong focus on customer needs and continuous improvement.
The role will require some flexibility in terms of working early mornings/late afternoons and some weekends where required.
