Help shape a cleaner, more sustainable future for Broadland and South Norfolk. We're looking for someone to lead a varied programme of clean growth and sustainability work across Broadland and South Norfolk. You'll help develop large-scale green infrastructure and environmental projects, unlock investment and funding, and shape new opportunities across energy, sustainability and climate resilience.
You'll join our Economic Growth service within the Place Directorate, working closely with colleagues across planning, assets, housing and other services, as well as with external partners, communities and organisations across Norfolk. There is real scope to shape what comes next. We want someone who can spot opportunities, bring people together and develop ideas into credible, funded and deliverable projects. That could range from major green infrastructure and environmental schemes to energy projects, external investment opportunities and programmes that help our places, businesses and communities become more sustainable and resilient.
It's a role that brings together environmental ambition with economic growth, investment and place-making, with the opportunity to influence projects from their early development through to delivery.
You'll have a broad remit, including:
- Developing and leading clean growth, green infrastructure, sustainability and environmental projects and programmes.
- Identifying new project and investment opportunities and helping turn them into deliverable schemes.
- Securing external funding and investment, including developing bids, business cases and partnerships.
- Leading the Councils' climate change, environment and biodiversity priorities and supporting the development of future strategies and delivery plans.
- Working across the Councils and with external partners to bring together planning, economic growth, assets, housing and environmental priorities.
- Providing oversight of projects and capital budgets, ensuring effective governance, procurement, financial and performance management.
- Building strong relationships with elected Members, communities, businesses, public sector partners and other organisations.
- Measuring progress and demonstrating the outcomes and impact of our work.
About You: The most important set of skills we want you to bring to this role are the skills required to build upon the strong foundations that both Councils have established in driving forward the green agenda. We want you to bring your experience to our existing team to further transform Broadland and South Norfolk Councils into exemplar authorities as we move towards a post carbon economy.
We're looking for someone who can combine knowledge of the clean growth and sustainability agenda with the ability to develop ambitious projects and lead programmes from concept through to delivery. With a degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy, Geography or another relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience at a senior or specialist level, you'll have sound knowledge of sustainability, energy and climate change policy, legislation and best practice.
You'll bring strong project and programme management skills, with experience of developing and delivering initiatives across organisational boundaries and in partnership with external organisations. An effective communicator, you'll be confident building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and have experience of securing internal or external funding and finance. You'll also be comfortable analysing technical, financial and performance information and turning this into clear, practical recommendations.

As part of our team, you will enjoy a range of employee benefits, including free onsite parking, employee discounts, a competitive holiday allowance, wellbeing initiatives, and the opportunity to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. You will be joining a progressive and supportive organisation that is committed to making a positive impact on the communities we serve.
The Councils reserve the right to close any and all vacancies at any time if there is judged to be a sufficient number of applications received.
