Salary: NJC Grade C: £25,989 - £26,403 FTE (This will be paid pro‑rata to reflect hours and weeks worked). Please note that the pro‑rata salary for this role is between £19,128 (C6) and £19,433 (C7) gross per annum (subject to change depending on agreed working pattern on appointment).
Working Pattern: This is a fixed‑term position working 31.8 hours per week, 39 weeks per year until 31st August 2027 (Monday to Friday).
About the Role: South Molton United C of E Primary School are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our school team. You will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment. Working under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, you will support learning in both the classroom and small‑group settings.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils’ welfare and personal care, including those with SEND
- Implementing literacy and numeracy interventions
- Assisting with planning cycles and preparing learning resources
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil independence
- Assisting with supervision during break/lunchtimes and accompanying pupils on trips when required
What We’re Looking For: We are looking for someone who can bring compassion and commitment to the role. Essential qualities include:
- Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age
- Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning
- Strong communication skills, including confidence and fluency in spoken English
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to relate well to both children and adults
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Knowledge of SEN practices and the national curriculum
- Additional training in learning strategies such as literacy or numeracy
- NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent
