Help shape the future of South Liverpool Homes.

Are you an experienced finance professional looking to use your skills to make a lasting difference to people's lives and communities? South Liverpool Homes (SLH) is seeking a new board member to join our high-performing board and become a member of our Audit & Risk Committee. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future direction of a housing association that is committed to providing great homes, strong communities and bright futures. SLH is proud to hold the highest regulatory ratings for governance, financial viability and consumer standards (G1, V1 and C1). We manage over 3,800 homes across south Liverpool and are investing significantly in our existing homes, neighbourhoods and new housing developments to meet the needs of current and future customers. This is a particularly exciting time to join us. We are in the final stages of developing our new corporate plan, which will set our strategic direction from 2027 onwards.

As a board member, you will have the opportunity to help shape our future ambitions, ensuring we continue to deliver excellent services, invest in our communities and remain a strong, resilient organisation for years to come.

Who are we looking for?

To complement the Board's existing skills, we are particularly interested in candidates with senior-level finance and treasury experience, ideally gained within the housing sector, including expertise in audit, assurance, risk management and governance within a regulated environment. A recognised professional finance qualification and strategic leadership experience are essential. We are looking for someone who brings sound judgement, strategic insight and the confidence to provide both support and constructive challenge. Most importantly, you will share our commitment to customers, communities and our values.

As a member of both the Board and the Audit & Risk Committee, you will contribute to strategic decision-making, oversee organisational performance and risk and help ensure we continue to meet the highest standards of governance and accountability. This is much more than a governance role. It is an opportunity to use your expertise to influence the future of an organisation that is passionate about tackling inequalities, strengthening communities and improving life chances for the people we serve.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive board that reflects the communities we serve.

Your supporting statement should be a minimum of 200 words and explain how your skills, experience and knowledge meet the requirements set out in the person specification.

You may use AI tools to help structure, format or refine your application. However, your application should reflect your own experience, skills and achievements. Applications should not be wholly generated by AI, as we want to understand your personal motivation, experience and suitability for the role.

Encouraging diversity

We are committed to building a diverse, inclusive and representative Board that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences and identities. We recognise that some groups are currently underrepresented within our Board membership. In particular, we welcome applications from people who identify as LGBTQ+, whose perspectives and lived experiences are not currently represented on our Board. Appointments will always be made on merit.

We are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible recruitment process, and we encourage applicants to discuss any adjustments they may need during the application or selection process.
