Due to continued growth and development of the Trust, South Lincolnshire Academies Trust is introducing an exciting new role within each of our four schools — Bourne Academy, Spalding Academy, Cowley Academy and Giles Academy. We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, highly motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Teacher for Access to Learning.

The successful candidate will support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to successfully access the mainstream curriculum by providing targeted teaching, intervention, and in-class support. The post-holder will work collaboratively with subject teachers, SEN Manager, the SENCo and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes for students with SEN.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Essential:
    • Strong understanding of SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SpLD);
    • Proven ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs;
    • Experience of working with or supporting students with EHCPs;
    • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills;
    • The ability to motivate students and achieve excellent results;
    • Excellent organisational and ICT skills;
    • The capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team;
  • Desirable:
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS);
    • Experience working with students with SEN in a secondary setting;
    • Experience working with students in a specialist setting;
    • Experience teaching in KS1 and/or KS2 with a strong understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy development, and an ability to transfer this to support students accessing the secondary curriculum;
    • Experience delivering targeted interventions (e.g. literacy/numeracy catch-up);
    • Knowledge of current SEND Code of Practice.
