Due to continued growth and development of the Trust, South Lincolnshire Academies Trust is introducing an exciting new role within each of our four schools – Bourne Academy, Spalding Academy, Cowley Academy and Giles Academy. We are seeking an inspirational, highly motivated and enthusiastic Access to Learning Teacher to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in accessing the mainstream curriculum by providing targeted teaching, intervention and in‑class support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students with SEN to access the mainstream curriculum by providing targeted teaching and intervention.
- Collaborate with subject teachers, the SEN Manager, the SENCo and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning and improve outcomes for students with SEN.
- Provide in‑class support and adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Strong understanding of SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, SpLD).
- Proven ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
- Experience of working with or supporting students with EHCPs.
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Ability to motivate students and achieve excellent results.
- Excellent organisational and ICT skills.
- Capacity to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience working with students with SEN in a secondary setting.
- Experience working with students in a specialist setting.
- Experience teaching in KS1 and/or KS2 with a strong understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy development, and an ability to transfer this to support students accessing the secondary curriculum.
- Experience delivering targeted interventions (e.g. literacy/numeracy catch‑up).
- Knowledge of the current SEND Code of Practice.
Additional Requirements
Successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory pre‑employment clearance in line with "Keeping Children Safe in Education".
