Hours: 35 hours per week

Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 8:45am - 4:45pm and Friday 8:45am - 4:15pm

Salary: £33,468 - £38,779 annual salary

This post is temporary for 2 years. An exciting opportunity has arisen within South Lanarkshire's Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services for two Assistant Engineering Officers. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Roads Asset Management/Streetworks team. The successful candidates will have experience in roadworks, Streetworks, and asset management, along with a good understanding of road inspection processes in line with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice. Knowledge of road maintenance techniques and strong IT skills are essential. The team plays a key role in coordinating and managing daily works across the local road network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support within the Streetworks/Asset Management function
  • Assist in delivering an efficient service in line with the New Roads and Street Works Act and Transport Scotland Act
  • Coordinate and monitor works via the Scottish Road Works Register (SRWR)
  • Ensure statutory undertaker compliance on site
  • Carry out routine and sample inspections in line with codes of practice
  • Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders
  • Support project delivery and respond to enquiries in line with council policies
  • Assist with asset management activities
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
