Vacancy: Fixed term for 23 months

An opportunity has arisen for Personnel Officer roles within the council to focus on absence management. The council has a holistic approach to absence management which is set out in our Maximising Attendance Policy. The policy provides a wide range of supports for employees and managers to ensure our employees and managers are supported through any absence.

You will be part of a new team supporting managers focusing on maximising attendance. This will involve providing professional guidance to managers on the policy as well as contributing to overall improvements in this approach. The post holder will work with the Service towards achieving maximising attendance targets in line with the policy and best practice whilst liaising with employees, managers, HR business managers, occupational health team, employee support team and trade union colleagues.

You will work under the direction of the Personnel Adviser and be the first point of contact for your specified Resource on matters relating to maximising attendance. You will work closely with employee relations colleagues to support absences related to other processes.

You will be a highly organised and motivated individual who can make an immediate and positive impact within the team. You will have excellent planning and organisational skills together with practical application, knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office packages, the ability to handle multiple systems and data analysis. You will also have strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ideally, you will be motivated by delivering a high quality HR service to our workforce, have experience of supporting both managers and employees across a wide range of HR activities, including maximising attendance, and be able to demonstrate experience of working within a fast paced HR operational environment. CIPD qualification is desirable and we also recognise experience in operational personnel delivery.

Full Training and Support will be provided to the successful candidate.
