Housing & Technical Resources has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to undertake the role of Services Compliance Officer, with a focus on commercial heating systems and gas compliance, supporting the Council's Non-Housing general service portfolio of properties.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance across all gas and heating assets, contributing to the effective delivery of maintenance, servicing programmes, inspections, and capital projects.
  • Hold an SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and be time‑served within a commercial heating/gas environment, with demonstrable experience in gas safety compliance.
  • Maintain sound knowledge and practical experience of commercial heating systems, gas installations, servicing regimes, and current gas safety legislation, including compliance frameworks such as the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations.
  • Apply experience in building maintenance, technical standards, and compliance auditing.
  • Work within a multi‑disciplinary environment, coordinating and monitoring contractors and/or in‑house operatives to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise workloads, programmes, and compliance schedules.
  • Commit to customer care, continuous improvement and achieving performance targets within strict timescales.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to health and safety and risk management.
  • Utilise strong IT skills to produce compliance reports, analyse performance data and maintain accurate records.
  • Exhibit excellent leadership, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, collaborating effectively with internal teams, contractors and external agencies.
  • Deliver on budgets, targets, deadlines and plan, programme and deliver statutory inspection and maintenance regimes for gas and heating systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Time‑served in a commercial heating/gas environment with demonstrable experience in gas safety compliance.
  • Commercial gas qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial heating systems, gas installations, servicing regimes and gas safety legislation.
  • Experience in building maintenance, technical standards and compliance auditing.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and managing multi‑disciplinary teams.
