Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 8:45am - 4:45pm and Friday 8:45am - 4:15pm

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed Engineering Officer to be part of our Structures team. Playing a vitally important role in delivering commitments associated with the Council’s extensive roads structures asset, the main duties include:
- Assisting in the preparation and delivery of capital and revenue funded projects
- Participating in the routine bridge inspection regime
- Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with appropriate health and safety requirements
- Handling routine and statutory enquiries including those from Elected Members and the public
You should have knowledge and experience of technical aspects of this area of work. Experience in the development and delivery of bridges and other roads structure related projects, both major and minor, would be advantageous, including the procurement and financial monitoring required. While working as part of the wider Structures team, you should additionally be able to work individually to specific deadlines and direction.
A commitment to customer focus, service delivery and responsiveness will be vital as will the ability to commit to our constant efforts to refine, innovate and improve service delivery. You should be able to demonstrate job specific behaviours as contained within the job profile.
An HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent is a minimum requirement for this post. Ideally, you should be an Incorporated or Chartered Civil Engineer or working towards this level of professional qualification. You must hold a current driver’s licence as you will be expected to travel throughout the Council area.
For this post and for others across the Service, we have adopted a flexible approach to the working arrangements. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist team tasked with taking forward a number of important capital and revenue funded priorities.
