Hours: 37.64 hours per week
Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 3:30pm and Friday 7:30am - 3:00pm
Hourly Rate: ÂŁ14.02 - ÂŁ14.33 per hour

A position has arisen within South Lanarkshire Council Waste services for a Waste Services Operative (Loader) based at our Blantyre depot. As the successful candidate you will have the ability to undertake a range of skilled refuse collection and recycling duties ensuring compliance with the Environmental Protection Act, Council Policies and Health and Safety Legislation.
You will provide a quality front line Refuse Collection Service within the local community as well as assisting the driver in the safe manoeuvring of the vehicle on collection routes. To undertake, individually or as part of a team, all duties connected with the removal of domestic waste from a variety of locations, ensuring the safe operation of mechanisms on vehicles and refuse containers and complying with Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
Main Responsibilities:
- To participate in the planning of the daily route according to requests for service and to undertake the completion of related records and paperwork as required.
- To assess whether recycling waste is contaminated or clean and advise members of the public accordingly, providing appropriate information on the recycling scheme.
- To provide information to members of the public regarding the recycling schemes in operation and advise customers of the full range of services provided by Waste Services.
- To undertake waste stream identification, i.e. dry recyclables, residual waste, bulky uplifts, POP’s and fridges etc. to ensure correct disposal.
