Position Details
- Location: Hamilton Water Palace, Almada Street, Hamilton
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Salary Band: £35,381 - £36,365 per year
- Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 10am - 6pm (To be confirmed at interview). Flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the service and may include occasional weekend work.

Job Profile
South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team at Hamilton Water Palace as a Health and Fitness Duty Officer. You will be responsible for assisting the Recreation Officer in the management of the day to day operation of the facilities. This includes ensuring staff are managed, developed and reviewed to effectively deliver the Health and Fitness operation of the facility, delivering staff training and ensuring the facility standards remain high whilst improving customer retention. The successful candidate will be working with our Health Team to deliver health programmes within the local community, with outreach work also required.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for financial processes, including payroll, ordering, cash management.
- Assist in maintaining budgets and trading activities.
- Responsible for ensuring staff are effectively managed, developed and reviewed to effectively deliver the operation of the facilities.
- Undertake project work involved with the events, building equipment and marketing within pre‑determined timescales.
- Provide customer care to high standards in line with the Business Plan and SLLC Strategy.
- Responsible for the delivery of training.
A current BACR (British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation) or PSI (Postural Stability Instructor) qualification is desirable and a Level 2 Gym instructor or equivalent qualification is essential. Please note the successful candidate will be expected to work some evenings and weekends. Shift pattern to be confirmed.
