Job Overview
Position: Social Care Assistant
Location: David Walker Gardens, Rutherglen
Hours: 30 hours per week (permanent) or temporary for 6 months
Salary: £24,307–£24,495 per annum
Work pattern: Combination of early shifts (7:15 am–3:15 pm) and late shifts (2:15 pm–10:15 pm) with 8 shifts over a fortnight period including weekend working
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care and welfare support to older adults in the community
- Assist with daily living activities, meals, personal care and medication where appropriate
- Demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries with service users
- Engage service users in meaningful and appropriate activities throughout the day
- Maintain accurate records and report concerns regarding diet, fluid intake or other care needs to appropriate personnel
- Organise and manage time effectively while caring for multiple service users
Qualifications & Requirements
- SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Social Care, or HNC in Social Care, or willingness to complete these qualifications
- Registered with SSSC or in the process of registration; registration must be completed within 6 months of commencement
- Experience providing care and welfare for older or disabled people, preferably with dementia, is desirable
- Ability to plan and prepare meals and drinks for users with special dietary requirements
- Strong organisational, communication and time‑management skills
- Commitment to promoting the independence, rights and choice of service users

- Post is a regulated role under the Disclosure Scotland Act 2020 – applicants must not be barred from working with adults
- Preferred candidates will join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to offer
- Overseas Criminal Records Check required for applicants born outside the UK or who have lived abroad for more than 3 months in the past 10 years; check must be translated into English and certified
