About The Role
South Lanarkshire is launching an ambitious Summer of Sport programme aimed at increasing participation in physical activity, improving wellbeing, and strengthening community connections. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Development Officer to lead, coordinate, and deliver a diverse and inclusive programme of sporting and physical activity opportunities for residents from 3 -26 and all abilities. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about community engagement, sport-for-change, and creating accessible pathways for people to get active and stay active.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and deliver a wide-ranging programme of inclusive sporting and physical activities across South Lanarkshire.
- Work closely with local clubs, schools, community groups, and partner organisations to maximise participation and reach.
- Ensure activities are accessible to all residents, including underrepresented groups, individuals with additional support needs, and those facing barriers to participation.
- Promote the programme through community outreach, events, and targeted engagement.
- Monitor participation levels, gather feedback, and evaluate programme impact to support reporting to funders.
- Support the creation of positive, welcoming environments that encourage physical activity, social connection, and improved wellbeing.
- Contribute to the long-term development of community sport initiatives beyond the funded period.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Experience in sports development, community engagement, youth work, or physical activity programming.
- A strong commitment to inclusion, equality, and community wellbeing.
- Excellent communication and partnership‑building skills.
- Creativity and confidence in delivering activities that appeal to a wide range of participants.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- A proactive, positive approach to working with diverse communities.
- Relevant qualifications in sport, physical activity, community development, or youth work are desirable but not essential if you have strong practical experience.
