Position: Senior Manager Pupil Support (peripatetic)
Location: Hamilton Area (peripatetic)
Hours & Salary: 35 hours per week. Salary: Depute Head Teacher 8, £80,646 per year.
Role Overview: Transforming learning and teaching, inspiring learners, improving attainment, and supporting young people to achieve their potential is the mission. We aim to provide exceptional learning and working environments for pupils and staff and work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals. As Senior Manager Pupil Support you will work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment to support schools to meet the needs of children with additional support needs and to fulfill statutory duties. You will lead the strategic brief for Additional Support for Learning and the GIRFEC wellbeing agenda, and you will have an area remit to provide pastoral support and advice to headteachers. You will liaise with parents, partner agencies and third‑sector organisations to develop innovative solutions that enable children to progress in their learning. You will also be a key player in the Council’s Children’s Service Plan, working closely with Social Work, NHS and third‑sector colleagues to improve outcomes for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support schools to meet the needs of children with additional support needs.
- Develop and implement the Additional Support for Learning and GIRFEC wellbeing agenda.
- Provide pastoral support and strategic advice to headteachers.
- Coordinate with parents, partner agencies and third‑sector organisations to design innovative solutions for learners.
- Collaborate with Social Work, NHS and third‑sector colleagues on the Council’s Children’s Service Plan.
- Travel throughout South Lanarkshire as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Senior managerial experience within education, with a teaching background.
- Detailed knowledge of inclusive practice and procedures.
- Highly skilled communicator capable of managing and resolving complex situations.
- Willingness to travel throughout South Lanarkshire.
Legislative & Regulatory Requirements:
This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Scotland Act 2020. It is a regulated role with children and/or adults under the Disclosure Scotland Act 2020, and therefore applicants must not be barred from working with children or adults.
