South Lanarkshire Council are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Technical Officer within Environmental Services to support the Environmental Crime Team specializing in enforcement of Fly Tipping offences. This is a temporary post for 2 years from the start date.

Location: Brandon Gate, 1 Leechlee Road, Hamilton, ML3 0XB.

Hours & Work Pattern: 35 hours per week. Week 1 – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 1:30pm to 9pm; Wednesday 2pm to 9:30pm; Friday 8:45am to 4pm; Saturday 9am to 5pm. Week 2 – Tuesday 8:45am to 4:15pm; Wednesday and Thursday 1:30pm to 9pm; Friday 8:45am to 4pm.

Salary: £41,698 – £43,505.

Responsibilities: The Technical Officer will be responsible for undertaking complex work in relation to Environmental Crime (Fly Tipping enforcement), surveillance and prosecutions.

Qualifications & Requirements: No specific qualification is required. Experience in criminal enforcement of fly tipping or related areas is desirable but not essential. A current driving licence and the ability to travel within South Lanarkshire are required.

Overseas Criminal Records Check: Applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of three months in the past ten years must provide an overseas criminal records check. The check must be translated into English, issued by an official authority, and confirm no history of or pending criminal record proceedings.
