Role Overview
Housing & Technical Resources has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced individual to undertake the role of Services Compliance Officer, focusing on commercial heating systems and gas compliance, supporting the Council's Non‑Housing general service portfolio of properties.
Responsibilities
- Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance across all gas and heating assets, contributing to the effective delivery of maintenance, servicing programmes, inspections and capital projects.
- Coordinate and monitor contractors and in‑house operatives, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.
- Plan, programme and deliver statutory inspection and maintenance regimes for gas and heating systems.
- Produce compliance reports, analyse performance data, and maintain accurate records.
- Set budgets, targets and deadlines; plan and programme statutory inspection and maintenance regimes.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer care, continuous improvement and achieving performance targets within strict timescales.
- Take a proactive approach to health and safety and risk management.
Qualifications
- SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, time‑served in a commercial heating/gas environment.
- Demonstrable experience in gas safety compliance, including knowledge of Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary environment.
- Sound knowledge and practical experience of commercial heating systems, gas installations, servicing regimes and current gas safety legislation.
- Experience in building maintenance, technical standards and compliance auditing.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise workloads, programmes and compliance schedules.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong IT skills.
- Relevant commercial gas qualifications (highly desirable).
