Job Overview: The Depute Head Teacher supports the Head Teacher in overall school management, leads during the Head Teacher’s absence, and contributes to strategic direction. The role involves delivering the curriculum, supporting whole school initiatives and engaging with parents, staff and external partners.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Teacher in the overall management of the school as part of a Management Team.
- Deputise for the Head Teacher in their absence and have responsibility for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of colleagues.
- Participate in the implementation of the £800 million modernisation programme and support the delivery of additional support needs and primary/secondary provision.
- Assist in the delivery of the curriculum and carry out duties outlined in Annexe B of “A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century”.
- Contribute to whole school initiatives, partnership working with parents and other professionals.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Fully qualified Primary Teacher (GTC) with a GTC Scotland registration.
- Fluent in Gaelic – required for immersion classrooms.
- Legal requirement: pass a Renewal or Update check for the PVG Scheme before formal offer.
